FORT WORTH, Texas, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Aviation
Services, an industry leader in helicopter and aircraft completions,
MRO and maintenance services for over 36 years, recently dedicated
its Blackhawk Retrofit Center for military helicopter refurbishment
programs. The new TAS facility has the ability to flow at least
10 Blackhawk sized helicopters at once, with ample room for expansion
as government requirements increase. TAS is partnered with CSC Corporation
(the prime contractor) and Inter-Connect Wiring, Inc. (for wiring
harnesses) on this important UH-60 re-wiring program for the National
Guard Bureau.
This extensive re-wire program is integral to the worldwide
needs of
Army Aviation, whether active service or National Guard. Aging Blackhawk
helicopters in the Army National Guard are important to the overall
military mission of protecting American security interests at home
and abroad. This program provides upgraded helicopters to National
Guard units who are subject to deploying in support of the overall
strategic mission of the US Military. The program is expected to
cover potentially hundreds of helicopters over time and will include
extensive cockpit modifications, wire harness replacements, paint
and MRO. The work being done encompasses on average about 6,000
man- hours per helicopter. Under the existing contract TAS has performed
upgrades on 21 Blackhawk's and expects to see
that number increase significantly. Tim Woodard, President of Texas
Aviation Services, said: "We are proud to be serving our Military
with this important helicopter upgrade project. We have expanded
our hangar capacities and program management skills specifically
to take on even more Blackhawk's and other government programs."
