Air Unit took delivery of their newly customized Eurocopter AS350B2.
TAS was awarded the contract in December to customize the newly
purchased aircraft. The new helicopter will be replacing one of
their aging helicopters while furthering their fleet standardization.
TAS
completed the helicopter at their Fort Worth facility in accordance
with the State's specifications. The avionics configuration consists
of their new standard, Garmin GNS-430 GPS/Nav/Comm system, NAT AMS-44
audio panel, NAT CC-450 simulcast, King KCS-55A heading,
KY-196A Comm, KT-76A transponder and KRA-405B altimeter. Technisonics
NEW TDFM-6148 tactical radio system, L3's SKY-497 TCAS and WX-1000
Stomscope added to the standard avionics to enhance a safer more
effective emergency response aircraft.
Additionally
an L3 Wescam 12DS200 gyro stabilized camera system was installed
on Meeker Aviations newly designed down post mount. While
being displayed on an Avalex monitor and a Sony recorder the new
camera will allow for better airborne surveillance.
In
response to the officers request to update and standardize their
helicopter fleet, TAS has been awarded another contract to install
an identical camera system on one of the states oldest AS350BAs.
