Fort
Worth, TX, April 27, 2007 - Texas Aviation Services, an industry
leader in helicopter and aircraft completion, MRO and maintenance
services for over 36 years, is proud to announce that its Founder
and CEO, Carl D. "Woody" Woodard has earned the Federal Aviation Administration's
Charles Taylor "Master Mechanic" award. The award, named in honor
of the man who designed and built the engine for the Wright brothers'
first successful aircraft, is presented to certificated mechanics
and repairmen who have worked in aviation for at least 50 years.
It is one of the highest honors that the FAA can bestow.
Tim
Woodard , President of Texas Aviation Services, said: "We are all
extremely proud of my father's accomplishment, especially since
we believe he may be the first recipient of this prestigious award
ever to be active as a company's CEO at age 76. Prior to starting
his first business in 1971 Woody spent 21 years in the Air Force
and credits the education he received there as the foundation for
his business success. He then laid the foundation for our high degree
of quality and safety by which we are known. Woody's contributions
to aviation are an example to us all."
The
award, a certificate and a lapel pin, were presented to Mr. Woodard
during a surprise ceremony with local FAA officials at Meacham Field
on April 19, 2007. In accepting the award, Woody Woodard said: "I
founded TAS on the core values of Quality, Safety, and Customer
Service and those remain its uncompromising standards today. I'm
proud to see how far our industry has come in 50 years, but I predict
the best is yet to come for Texas Aviation Services and its people
as we make even bigger strides of leadership in the helicopter services
industry in the promising years ahead."
