For Immediate Release
Fort Worth—January 14, 2008 Texas Aviation Services, an industry leader in helicopter and aircraft completions, MRO and maintenance services for over 36 years recently delivered to Phil & Lee Hixon, owners of Palm Springs Air Museum in California, their newly refurbished Bell 206L-1.
The scope of work for Texas Aviation Services was a simple one: “Make this 1980 helicopter look and fly like brand new”. Behind the scenes, this mission was orchestrated by the very talented craftsmen at TAS. As part of the conversion, TAS performed an intensive engine power upgrade by replacing the powerplant from a C-28B to a C-30P. TAS installed the newest Garmin avionics suite to include moving maps and a satellite weather system. By adding an entirely new updated ultra-plush VIP corporate interior, it gave the helicopter a modern look and feel. TAS also performed a rigorous airframe inspection and applied a new custom design paint scheme. The aircraft was modernized by installing new Tech Tool windows throughout and personal LED touch switches for interior lighting above each passenger. With additional accessories such as the AFS air filter, the latest LED exterior lights and Precise Flight’s pulsating landing-light, this aircraft passed Mr. Hixon’s high standards. Mr. Hixon is a man who has the knowledge of restoration, since he owns and restores vintage one-of-a-kind World War II airplanes for his museum. Only the sharpest eyes will be able to differentiate this 1980 aircraft from a brand new model presented off the assembly line.
Mr. Hixon said, “As for my decision to use TAS, it was one of the finest of my aviation life. Every member of the TAS staff treated us as personal friends who would do everything they could to satisfy our requests. I traveled a long way from Palm Springs, California to have TAS rebuild my helicopter. I knew TAS from the work previous work that was done on my Bell 407 and I had full confidence that I would get my helicopter built just the way I wanted with careful detail to every safety feature. TAS went further than I believed possible, that’s dedication! And we loved the Texas Barbeque!”
